Who We Are

    Betty lives in Oktaha, Oklahoma, where she has resided all her life. She started competing in barrel racing at the age of 9. In 1969 she and Jimmy married. Together they have one son, J.W., a daughter-in-law, Nikki, two granddaughters, Jaylie and Jernie, and one grandson, Jayco.


    Both Jimmy and Betty are former teachers. They have won championship honors in steer wrestling and barrel racing. Together they run their ranch and training facility at Oktaha.


    Jaylie, their granddaughter, is a top notch contender in barrel racing, winning championship honors as well, in local and professional events. She is developing her training skills alongside of Jimmy and Betty. Currently, Jaylie, is riding her  gelding SIXKILLER and her futurity mare Clear Boggy "aka" Crazy Train.


    Jayco, their grandson, is a standout in the rodeo arena and in the bronc riding. He also is the Jr. High Champion bareback rider.


    Their youngest granddaughterJernie, is following the Roper tradition. She is already showing a love for horses at the age of 5 and quite the competitor at a young age on her horse Short Stack.
